These Terms govern your use of the GetFriendly app, operated by Get Friendly Ltd, a company registered in Scotland, United Kingdom. By creating an account you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use GetFriendly
You must be 18 or older and able to form a binding contract. One account per person. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity on your account.
2. What GetFriendly is for
GetFriendly exists to help people form meaningful platonic friendships through shared interests, values, hobbies, life stage and general area. It is expressly not a dating or romantic-matchmaking service, not a social-media or content-creator platform, and not an advertising channel.
3. Account types
GetFriendly has three kinds of account, and some terms differ by type:
- Personal — for individuals making friends. The acceptable-use rules below apply in full.
- Business — for commercial venues, clubs and groups that host events. A paid subscription is required to publish. See our Business Terms.
- Community — free, verified non-profit and public-good organisations (charities, NHS services, councils, libraries, support groups) that help people connect. See our Community Terms.
Verified business and community organisations may list and promote their own genuine events under their respective supplementary terms; the "no advertising" rule for personal users (below) is what prevents individuals from using personal accounts to advertise. Community organisations must not use their free account for commercial promotion.
4. Acceptable use
To keep GetFriendly a calm, safe place, you agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or abuse anyone.
- Use the app for dating, sexual solicitation, or romantic pursuit.
- Post or send unlawful, hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit content.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent who you are.
- Advertise, spam, solicit, recruit, or promote products, services, or causes.
- Collect or scrape other users' information, or attempt to identify people without consent.
- Attempt to break, probe, or circumvent the app's security or encryption.
- Use the app for anything involving people under 18.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the service — for example, to store your profile and deliver your encrypted messages. Because messages are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot read them.
Reviews. A review you post about an event or business is public content. By posting one, you agree that your review — including your display name, rating and words — may be shown to other members and to the business or organisation you reviewed, including in the anonymous-aggregate insights we provide them (for example, their best and most critical feedback). We never share your contact details or any private information this way.
6. Safety, reporting & moderation
You can report users, events, businesses or content in the app. We may review reports and take action — including warning, suspending, or removing accounts — to protect the community. We may remove content or restrict accounts that breach these Terms. We aren't able to monitor encrypted message content, so reporting helps keep everyone safe.
To keep reporting safe, we never tell the person who has been reported who reported them. If your account is suspended or removed, we will email you to explain the reason, along with any relevant evidence, but never the identity of any reporter.
If your account is suspended or removed for a breach of these Terms, any active paid membership (such as Friendly+) is forfeited and is not refunded, and you may lose access to it immediately. A suspended or removed person may not create a new account to get around the suspension.
7. Friendly+ subscriptions
- Friendly+ is an optional paid subscription offering additional features (such as discovery and filters).
- Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store account at the price shown at purchase (monthly or annual).
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings; deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's terms.
- If your account is suspended or removed for breaching these Terms, your Friendly+ membership is forfeited without refund.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using GetFriendly and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms or to comply with the law.
9. Service "as is"
We work hard to keep GetFriendly reliable, but the app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that you'll make particular connections, or that the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GetFriendly is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the conduct of other users. Friendships happen between people; you are responsible for your own safety when meeting anyone in person. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Meeting people safely
If you arrange to meet someone, use good judgement: meet in public, tell someone where you'll be, and stop if anything feels wrong. GetFriendly does not vet or background-check users.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. If changes are material we'll let you know in the app and update the date above. Continuing to use GetFriendly after changes means you accept them.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland, United Kingdom, and disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
