Privacy isn’t a setting in GetFriendly — it’s the architecture. The app removes the data-hungry mechanics other social apps depend on, so safety isn’t something we promise; it’s something we built.
Industry-standard X3DH + Double Ratchet encryption. Private keys and message content never leave your device, and the server stores only ciphertext it cannot read. Push notifications tell you who messaged — never what they said.
There are no engagement algorithms, no advertising SDKs and no behavioural profiles to sell. We have nothing to gain from your screen time — only from your friendships working out.
Your exact location is never shared or stored on your profile. Matching distance is worked out at town level, on your device — and shown to others only as an approximate distance.
You choose whether you’re discoverable and exactly what you show. Discovery is opt-in, finite and curated — never an endless scroll designed to keep you hooked.
Report a person, event or business with optional evidence. Blocking is mutual. A suspended account is blocked at login, loses any paid membership, and is told the reason — but never the identity of whoever reported it.
Security rules decide who can read and write. Subscription status, suspension and moderation are enforced on the server — not trusted from the app. An email check before first contact keeps throwaway accounts away from real people.
GetFriendly is free to join and funded by optional subscriptions — never advertisers. We never show ads, never track you, and never sell your data. Because nobody’s attention is for sale, the app never needs to grab, hook or interrupt.
